The Intermountain Children’s Choir organization–ICC (A division of the Salt Lake Choral Artists organization–SLCA)–provides younger children with music education appropriate to their ages and maturity levels.
We are part of a very unique time in our world. Hence, our lives are very different now than they ever have been, especially within the world of group music instruction. The staff here at the ICC has been working to develop a rewarding educational experience for your children, still taking into account safety measures that are so essential in the current climate.
We have decided to start the 2020-2021 year with a hybrid learning structure of mainly online group instruction with in-person classes and rehearsals as safety protocols permit.
Virtual classes/rehearsals will be on Mondays, starting Sept 21, 2020 at 4:30 PM. These will be held over Zoom and last approximately 40 minutes. These classes will include:
- vocal technique instruction
- sight singing instruction
- music learning through choir compositions with eventual use in a group setting
- music education activities, which may include the following:
-
Music Theory instruction
- Music History instruction
- Composer introduction
- Instrument introduction and exposure
- etc.
- other activities geared to the learning levels of this age group
In-person sessions, starting with one each month, will be held under the following parameters:
- Each student will be required to wear a mask.
- In-person sessions will last 30 minutes as per guidelines suggested by the American Choral Directors Association.
- These sessions will be held at Riverton Music at Jordan Landing in the Recital Hall.
- Students will be placed 8-12 feet apart.
- Any student who cannot for any reason attend the in person event will be able to still join us through Zoom.
Notification of in-person meetings will be sent out to members 2-3 weeks prior. They will also begin on Mondays at 4:30 PM. Since we only have 30 minutes, it is imperative that the students be on time.
The Intermountain Children’s Choir organization is open enrollment—any student who would like to participate and is willing to follow the standards and policies (including regular attendance) is free to enroll.
Tuition is a flat monthly rate and will be handled through SLCA. Please know that tuition can be negotiable and there are various discounts available; we feel that no child should be denied music education because of financial circumstances. Please contact us personally with any requests or questions.
Revision of the Studio Policies for ICC are currently under revision due to the unique health circumstances we are under. They will be made available as soon as possible.
